CARIES RISK ASSESSMENT
Caries (tooth decay) risk assessment is a process used by dentists to determine an individual's likelihood of developing cavities. The purpose of this assessment is to identify those who are at higher risk of developing tooth decay, so that preventive measures can be taken to reduce the risk. The assessment typically involves the collection of information about an individual's oral health history, dietary habits, oral hygiene practices, and other factors that may contribute to the development of cavities.

The dentist may also perform a visual examination of the teeth to check for signs of early decay and may use diagnostic tools such as X-rays or a laser cavity detector.

Based on the results of the risk assessment, the dentist may recommend preventive measures such as fluoride treatments, dietary changes, regular dental cleanings, or a more frequent recall schedule for check-ups.
